Paulding Democrats | Banned Book Club – Children’s Books

February 20 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Join the Paulding County Democrats for the monthly meeting of our Banned Book Club. We have expanded the definition of our club to include political books. Let’s explore the stories challenged and understand the importance of freedom of expression.

After the difficult subject matter of our January book selection, we decided that in February we will look at children’s picture books.

You don’t need to purchase or read the books ahead of time (although you are welcome to). Each book will be read out loud by one of our regular members.

These books have all been banned for various reasons that we will discuss during the meeting:
“Red: A Crayon’s Story” by Michael Hall (read by Margaret R.)
“Where the Wild Things Are” by Maurice Sendak (read by Debbie L.)
“My Shadow is Purple” by Scott Stuart (read by Sam A.)
“I am Jazz” by Jazz Jennings and “My Sister, Daisy” by Adria Karlsson (read by Andrea K.)
“And Tango Makes Three” by Justin Richardson and Peter Parnell (read by Bruce B.)

Coffee and soft drinks will be provided. Please bring a snack to share – classic kids snacks are encouraged!

The meeting is at a private residence near the Paulding County School District office on Atlanta Highway in Dallas. The address will be provided upon registration.

Let’s stand together for the freedom to read and share ideas!
